I wanted to create a universe that paralleled our own but was heavily rooted in the symbolism present during The Crusades. A woman with albinism was chosen to lead the charge, personifying God's strength as a unicorn and based on Joan of Arc. Her attendants are the church's select leaders representing the Tetramorph, and they use her as their example to justify purity through blood. I wanted a world that was run by errant leaders, relied heavily on relics and mysticism, and had an undertone of danger.
